/stamp Support

A physical stamp, a customer's phone and a member of staff all have to agree for a stamp to land, so most questions turn out to be about one of the three rather than about the software. These are the ones that actually arrive.
Talk to a person
Email hi@slashui.com and you will get a reply from a person, not a ticket number. It helps to say which shop you are, roughly when it happened, and what the screen said.
If it is a customer's phone that is misbehaving, the make of phone and whether it is an iPhone or an Android is usually enough to find it. Please do not send us a customer's phone number unless we ask.
Nothing happened when we tapped
Almost always the phone's screen was off. On an iPhone the tag is only read while the screen is on and the phone is unlocked, so the thing to say is "wake your phone and hold it here" rather than "pass me your phone".
- Hold it to the top of the phone on an iPhone, and to the middle of the back on most Androids. It needs to be touching, not near.
- Give it a second. On an iPhone a notification appears first and has to be tapped; it is not a pop-up they can ignore.
- A thick case or a metal card holder between the stamp and the phone will block it. So will a phone that has NFC switched off in its settings, which is rare but happens.
It says the stamp has already been used
That message means the link the phone opened had already been spent. Each tap produces a fresh single-use link, so this is what a customer sees if they open an old one out of their history, or if something re-sent a link they were given earlier. Tap the stamp again and it works. It is also the message a copied stamp would get, which is the point of it.
We cannot stamp the same customer again
There is a gap of about half an hour between two stamps for the same person at the same shop, and a ceiling on how many stamps one physical stamp can give out in a day. Both are there so a card cannot be filled in one sitting, by a customer or by anyone else, and both are ours to move rather than the shop's. If the limit is wrong for how your shop actually works, write to us and say so.
A customer is showing me a code. What do I do?
Open Redeem on your own device, type the four characters from their ticket, and confirm with your own PIN. The reward is handed over at that point and their screen updates to say so.
The code is typed on your side and never on theirs, which is the whole design: nothing a customer can do to their own phone hands over a reward, so a screenshot of a ticket is worth nothing. If the code is refused, check the ticket is still on their screen and have them press Show again; the timer on it is a freshness indicator, not an expiry, and the reward itself does not expire at all.
I redeemed the wrong one
There is an Undo for two minutes afterwards, on the same screen and behind the same PIN. Past that, write to us with roughly when it happened and we will correct it from the claims log, which records who redeemed what and when.
Somebody forgot their PIN, or the device is locked
Five wrong tries locks that device for fifteen minutes, and repeated failures lock the staff member out entirely. A PIN is always reset one level up, never by its owner: an owner resets their staff's from the Staff screen, and we reset an owner's. A correct PIN clears the count. Nobody, including us, can read an existing PIN back, so resetting it is the only route.
Our stamp has been lost or taken
Tell us the same day. We revoke it, and from that moment taps on it do nothing at all. It cannot be reactivated by whoever has it, and nothing they collected in the meantime stays valid that should not. Then order a replacement from Order stamps, or ask us and we will sort it out with you.
Can I change how many stamps a card takes?
Yes, between four and twelve, on the Programme screen, and the preview beside it re-lays the card as you change the number. Changing it while people are part-way through a card affects those cards, so it is worth deciding early. Shorter cards get completed and longer ones get abandoned, which is why the range stops where it does.
Can I pause it without ending it?
Yes. Accept new members stops new joiners while everyone already part-way through keeps earning, and turning the programme off shows a polite "not running right now" on a tap instead of an error. Closing a shop archives every card; members keep their history and stop earning.
A customer changed their phone number
The number is how /stamp knows who they are, so a new number is a new card and the old one stays where it is. There is no self-serve way to move it, on purpose: a number change that anyone can perform is a way to take over somebody else's account. Write to us with the details and we will sort it out by hand.
Requirements
Any phone with NFC, and no app to install.
For your customers, that means any recent iPhone or Android with NFC, and the browser it already has. For you, a phone, tablet or computer with a browser, for the console and the redeem screen.
We are not live yet
/stamp is opening to a small number of Singapore shops first. If you are reading this because you want one, join the waiting list and we will come to you when it is your turn. What we do with the details you leave is in the Slash UI privacy policy.
